KEY
STAGE 2 - Teacher Information
How Does It Work?
The programme consists
of 3 sections :
- Questionnaire.
Each pupil completes
a questionnaire - both in school and at home, and they enter
their answers on to the computer.
The pupil-friendly questionnaire collects information about
the following environmental themes :
Waste, the local built environment, energy, wildlife and
the natural environment, water, transport and travel and
healthy eating.
- Questionnaire Results.
The results can be used for topic and subject work. Pupils
can see their class results in a bar chart, pie chart or
table. They can compare their results to the national average.
Teachers can compare their class results with those of other
urban or rural schools.

- Panorama.
Six interactive games and quizzes relating to
wildlife and
the natural environment, waste, energy, water, transport
and travel and
healthy eating.
Each pupil can explore
the virtual world and play the interactive games and experience
the effect of our lifestyles on the environment.
National
Curriculum Links
Each section links to
a range of National Curriculum requirements in several curriculum
areas. There are strong links with geography, science, 'education
for sustainable development', ICT, maths, English, PSHE and
citizenship. It also provides an opportunity to develop Key
Skills. Teachers will also find their own ways of using Greener
Futures to further develop pupils' thinking skills.
Many of the National
Curriculum links are highlighted in the documents below.
